You will play an important role, caring for the animals on a daily basis as well as helping to maintain and develop the sanctuary. These activities will take place on a rotational basis, with other activities not listed here potentially taking place too.You can volunteer at the Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary in Africa for 2 to 12 weeks. This project directs all its efforts towards the long-term rehabilitation of animals within Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary. All volunteers who book between these dates will be able to amend their start dates, duration, programme and destination easily and free of charge.

On top of that, on the same day we were walking the cheetah and they decided to zero in on some zebra and all we saw was running and a whole lot of dust and the zebra going crazy! At the weekends there is often a braai (a traditional African barbecue) under the stars.The menu rotates on a 3 week basis and there is a lot of meat served (usually for both lunch and dinner) which is more than most meat eaters are used to (so a few volunteers often end up to swapping to the vegetarian option). Although hot water is provided, it is powered by solar panels and can be intermittent. The Namibia Wildlife Sanctuary is a unique opportunity to work with animals, learn more about conservation and meet a lot of motivated people from all over the world!I will always remember walking with the baboons and watching a zebra, kudu and wildebeest be darted by the vet so they could be relocated!I had an absolutely amazing time at the sanctuary, they made it very clear that they really valued our contribution, which made the volunteering very rewarding.
